Yesterday’s post featured the iconic portrait photographer Richard Avedon. I loved reading about his unique approach to photography and the passion he had for his craft. I was moved by the stark imagery and how it captured the essence of his subject. As an amateur photographer, I have always admired portrait photography but for some reason shied away from it. Instead, I found myself drawn to landscape, maybe because of the solitude or the freedom. Just a little over a year ago, I started to photograph people, some candid, some portrait. I find it incredibly challenging, but also extremely rewarding. The ever changing environment is impossible to predict which I guess is the beauty of the art form ~ to capture life in that very moment, not a second before or after. The images in today’s post are some of my favorite photographs, taken over the past year. They are only the beginning of what I hope is a long and exciting journey.
