today’s post finds its inspiration from this rustic loaf of bread and sculptural white asparagus…rough-hewn wood floors may echo the uneven tone and texture of the bread while a clean-lined white sofa may take its cue from the long lean form of the asparagus…interiors with a complimentary palette and textural content…enjoy!

happy weekend!

“I wish for you to stand up for what you care about by participating in a global art project, and together we’ll turn the world…inside out.” ~ JR

IMG_0789

This week, while in NYC, I happened upon a wonderful surprise in Times Square, the INSIDE OUT PROJECT. From April 22 to May 10, 2013, artist JR and his team invited New Yorkers and visitors to take self-portraits in a photo booth truck stationed in Times Square, the site of the world’s first ever photo booth almost 100 years ago. These large-format street “pastings” lined Duffy Square and wrapped an adjacent building, offering the public a unique interactive experience between the subject/protagonist and the passer-by/interpreter. Unknowingly, one of these faces may have passed me by in the crowd, people I have yet to meet and may never meet, but who have now made a lasting impression. They were willing to share their beauty with the world, and in doing so, allow us to examine ourselves more closely. Making the world a better place through art? Genius

pebble textile

I wonder if this ever happens to you? I’ll see something I find inspiration from…something new and it stimulates my imagination…then, voila, I see it again and again and again…has this wonderful muse been right under my nose but I have neglected to see it? Or is this a new trend that keeps appearing on the air waves?

Just the other day I brought home a rug sample (above)…I loved it for the texture and palette but somehow I imagined it better as a textile…maybe for a special chair or pillow…and then this morning, voila! I discover this gorgeous interior (below) with a similar textile on a chair! Bumpy, sculptural and exactly what I imagined it would look like…

Just thought I’d share this simple observation with you…it’s nice to receive a little affirmation from the universe now and again
