Today’s post features a painting I purchased last summer titled “bowl of peaches”…it is by Provincetown artist Leslie Packard, sister of painter Cynthia Packard, daughter of painter Anne Packard, and great-granddaughter of the well-known painter Max Bohm…what I hope to share with you is her brilliant eye for color and her bold use of texture…using a palette knife and brush she applies, scrapes and reapplies her paint…the result is a multi-dimensional layered effect that feels impressionistic yet at the same time fresh and modern…you may have noticed the gradations of lavender she chose for the shadows and the light blue hues she chose for the bowl…two of my favorite colors in combination! Please enjoy these close ups of my beloved “bowl of peaches”…
