Wishing you a happy summer weekend!
DOG AROUND THE BLOCK by E.B. White, 1938
Dog around the block, sniff,
Hydrant sniffing, corner, grating,
Sniffing, always, starting forward,
Backward, dragging, sniffing backward,
Leash at taut, leash at dangle,
Leash in people’s feet entangle-
Sniffing dog, apprised of smellings,
Love of life, and fronts of dwellings,
Meeting enemies,
Loving old acquaintance, sniff,
Sniffing hydrant for reminders,
Leg against the wall, raise,
Leaving grating, corner greeting,
Chance for meeting, sniff, meeting,
Meeting, telling, news of smelling,
Nose to tail, tail to nose,
Rigid, careful, pose,
Liking, partly liking, hating,
Then another hydrant, grating,
Leash at taut, leash at dangle,
Tangle, sniff, untangle
Dog around the block, sniff.

happy patriot’s day!

You may be asking yourself, what is Patriot’s Day? It is a civic holiday commemorating the anniversary of the Battles of Lexington and Concord, the first battles of the American Revolution…observed in Massachusetts and Maine, the day begins with re-enactments of these first battles at the Lexington Green in Lexington, Massachusetts and The Old North Bridge in Concord, Massachusetts…re-enactors, dressed in authentic revolutionary war uniforms, recreate every detail of this historic day…may we remember those who gave their lives in the name of freedom…
“Stand your ground. Don’t fire unless fired upon, but if they mean to have a war, let it begin here.”
~ Captain John Parker to his Minutemen on the Lexington Green, April 19, 1775
