“A thoughtful eye” is a remarkable journey, one whose path is forever evolving right before my very eyes…each new discovery leads me to the next, magically layering in ways I never could have imagined…I’m always amazed at how many of these new discoveries connect back to one another…maybe it’s because my eye is drawn to a similar aesthetic, maybe it’s pure coincidence, or maybe it’s a little of both…when it does happen, I feel as though I’ve been given a special gift…an affirmation of sorts, encouraging me to continue down this road of learning and exploration…happily, that is what this blog is all about…

A few days ago I posted about the stylish interior designer Kara Mann. I couldn’t wait to research and post about the exquisite product lines she carries at her Chicago Showroom, Kara Mann, LTD. Interestingly, I was pleased to learn that two of the fifteen lines, Richard Shaprio and Ochre, are companies that I already posted about! In addition, the Lumiere Chandelier (pictured above and below), designed by Jean de Merry and featured in Kara Mann’s Lake Forest Showhouse, is a piece I had fallen in love with years ago after seeing it in person at BG, the Kelly Wearstler designed restaurant in Manhattan. Having loved this piece, I tried to research its origin but came up empty handed until the other day! So here we are with today’s post, one of my thrilling new discoveries, Jean de Merry, a company synonymous with luxury, quality and innovation. The Jean de Merry brand began back in 2000 with their signature line of club chairs crafted by artisans of hand dyed and hand aged leather. Before long, they began designing and manufacturing complementary furniture collections with a French art deco influence. Seating, lighting, casegoods, mirrors, and most recently textiles, Jean de Merry creates heirlooms for the future. Timeless yet innovative designs crafted by exceptional artisans…please enjoy some of my old and new favorites…

If you have a little time over the weekend, I highly recommend exploring the Jean de Merry website…in addition to their gorgeous products, they have an inspirational “Magazine” filled with people and places that embody their passion for beauty, innovation and excellence…a great escape and just a click away! Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

I made it! Today is my 100th post! When I started “a thoughtful eye” back in September, one of my goals was to write one hundred posts before the end of the calendar year and happily I achieved that goal with a few days to spare! To celebrate, I’m sharing with you my top twenty favorite interiors! Each and every one of these images brings a smile to my face along with a vivid memory of the first time I experienced their beauty.

This is my special gift to you, my loyal readers…thank you for taking time out of your busy lives to join me on this personal journey…I can’t thank you enough…there is so much I have yet to discover and explore about our visual world…I hope you continue to join me, it wouldn’t be the same without you…

The chic and glamorous Kelly Wearstler was featured on CBS Sunday Morning yesterday! I have been a fan of her work for years, in fact, the Richard Ginori table lamp I posted about (in my bedroom) is pictured in a Kelly Wearstler book! My favorite KW interior is BG, the seventh-floor restaurant at Bergdorf Goodman! I can’t go to NYC without having lunch at BG! It has it all ~ spectacular views, stylish furnishings (love the porter chairs!), ultra chic lighting (the chandeliers are out of this world!), exquisite wallpaper (hand-painted de Gournay chinoiserie wallpaper of birds and flowers), and for the icing on the cake (no food pun intended!), the Bergdorf Goodman home store is on the same floor!!!!!
