gary’s autumn

gary's autumn

How wonderful to experience the beauty of autumn through the eyes of a loved one! These expressive photos of Hutchins Farm, in Concord Massachusetts, were taken by my brother Gary while on a shopping trip with my mom…autumn’s warm golden light served him well elevating this humble window shade and orderly row of pumpkins into glowing works of art and in the foreground, bins of aubergine tinted vegetables offered him sculptural forms and textures as only nature could provide…a simple yet soulful composition that speaks so eloquently to fall in New England…so glad I could share this with you today

Gary and mom’s shopping list:

apples

honey nut squash

scallions

cooking onions

tomatoes

raspberries

bee happy

IMG_0141

The garden was buzzing with activity today! Bees in all their glory savoring the sweet nectar of our butterfly bush, roses and basil…the large bees are such a pleasure to watch and listen to…they adore the butterfly bush…as many as three bees can be spotted on just one bloom…I must have experienced the music of hundreds as they flew from blossom to blossom…pure delight…the smaller bees prefer the basil…imagine how their honey would taste? African basil honey! Must be amazing!

The fall solstice is only a few days away but today’s afternoon sun still felt like summer…warm and satisfying…flowers still fragrant and lush…how magnificent and fleeting summer is…may you soak in the last of its warmth and beauty…wishing you a very happy weekend!

Sorry it’s been so long since my last post! My days have been filled with some exciting new opportunities and time just seems to be flying by! It’s nice to be back with you today…

Let me start off by saying how much I adore this first image…just perfect in every way…what a beautiful and unexpected collection of container plantings…living sculpture at its best…the variety of color, texture, form and scale works like magic in this lush outdoor setting…the talent behind this artful beauty? Landscape designer Scott Shrader…his California home is a tutorial on how to live with your surroundings…his home embraces everything I love about interior and exterior design, blending textures and palettes into one cohesive vision…a petite and peaceful gem…what a nice way to start the week

wood and white

today’s post finds its inspiration from this rustic loaf of bread and sculptural white asparagus…rough-hewn wood floors may echo the uneven tone and texture of the bread while a clean-lined white sofa may take its cue from the long lean form of the asparagus…interiors with a complimentary palette and textural content…enjoy!

happy weekend!
